Andy Gibb reveals: The Way to Win His Heart
"They worry me sometimes," Andy Gibb confides about his fans' devotion, which can often be overwhelming. "They get so much emotion inside them. Crying. It's emotional to see them from the stage. It's hard to sing and watch them at the same time. To see kids at that age crying - that much broken up over a concert - it makes me feel pretty strange. They lose their minds and get hysterical - it's really frightening."
Andy sometimes it's downright annoying - like the times girls manage to get his phone number, which has had to be changed many times, and all they can do when they finally get through to their idol is giggle, or just not say anything at all.
For Andy, the attention is flattering; yet despite all the female attention, Andy is lonely and would like to be able to have a steady girl. He has some very strict ground rules, though, and any girl who would fall all over herself because he's a superstar would be making a big mistake. Because the way to win Andy's heart is to just act natural and let him make the first move.
To the question as to whether Andy meets a lot of young ladies when he's on the road, he concedes that indeed he does, "But most of them are fans who want to throw themselves at me. I want the privilege of chasing a girl."
For Andy, that's a very big consideration. All his life, even before he had his own career, he was made to seem different because he was the Bee Gees' brother. That's the main reason he decided to quit school. The fact that he was picked up every day in a limousine made some of his fellow students resent him and treat him differently. If there's anything he doesn't want it's for his love life to focus on the same kind of feeling. he wants to fall in love like any other man, but he wants it to be his choice.
